Smitten by the written… :)

I just love written words! It seems to me that so many are verbally spoken without anything significant ever actually having been said. The written form requires thought and preparation and that extra step of putting it down on paper giving the author the opportunity to articulate the exact message that they are attempting to convey.

There is little better, in my mind, than a well written book. One that I just can not put down. One where a writer has strategically formed some sort of question for which I absolutely must find the answer! It never fails to amaze me how I can look up from a book, not realizing that two or three hours have passed by and that my family may or may not have been eaten by sharks because we are at the beach and they are nowhere to be found.

It’s such a gift to be able to transport ourselves into all sorts of scenarios and places that the reality of life will probably never afford us to experience. I think I’ll never understand how anybody can look at a bookstore and see anything other than a billion adventures just waiting to happen!

  1. I agree – reading is one of my favorite things to do. I always laugh with my sister about shopping… we’ll head to the mall for one thing or another, but walk out with a book instead. There’s just something about books. Unlike clothes, they always fit! 😜

I love reading, too! The world would be a better place if more people read good books. 🙂

I can relate to your admiration towards words. Especially informal letters seem to be timeless❤️🌸
